How do I buy a print online?
Simply select which style of photograph interests you. For example a classic yacht photograph in black and white. From the home page, click on the ‘Classic Sailing Yacht’ picture from which you will be offered the choice of ‘Black and White’ or ‘Colour’ images. Again, click on the relevant picture and you will be taken to the gallery of pictures.
When you see one of the images you like, click on the image and it will expand into a larger picture. From the drop down box immediately underneath the image, select the size of print, framing and display you require. Under the drop down box you have two options – ‘Add to Cart’ Clicking on this tab will add your selection to the shopping cart. Use this if you wish to select other prints to purchase.
Once you have completed your selection(s), press the ‘View Cart’ tab which shows your selection. Check that the order is correct or amend it. The postage and packing cost is also shown here before the 'Total Cost' at the bottom of the table. If the items listed are correct, press the ‘Place Order’ tab at the bottom of the table.You will then be taken to the secure PayPal payment page which shows the products and a description you wish to buy on the left together with the Payment options on the right. You can choose either to pay via a credit or debit card or, if you have one, your PayPal account.
Congratulations! You have now purchased your print and your order will start to be processed.
I want to buy a print but the size I want is not listed?

with your requirements and I will respond with availability and price.
How good is the image quality?
It’s good! The images are taken with high quality equipment and all prints are examined before despatch. Remember, I supply businesses, book publishers, magazines, newspapers etc with my images but above all that I have my reputation to consider. If I am not satisfied then it doesn’t go out – although I am human!
Why does the print look slightly different to the image on my computer screen?
All monitors are different and whilst ours are calibrated, what you
see may be slightly different. So for all UK mainland customers we offer a Money Back Guarantee, if you are not completely satisfied with your paper print or greeting card purchase, simply email us and return the print to us within 7 days. When the print is received, in its original condition, we will replace the print or refund the cost of the print. 100% satisfaction guaranteed! What are the Payment Options?
The shopping cart is set up to receive payment via credit or debit card using the internationally recognised and secure, PayPal payment system.
Should you wish to pay by directly by Internet Banking, then please email email@example.com
and we will email you back the payment details and an order form.
What do I do if I want to cancel my order?
Please contact us immediately by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
If the print has not yet been printed, then the order will be cancelled and you will receive a 100% refund.
If you wish to cancel your order after it has been printed, or when you receive the print, email email@example.com
with your decision and return the print at your own expense secured in its original packaging. Please include your name, address, email address, telephone numbers, as well as your order number and ask you to include a brief description of the reason for the return. Once received, we will refund you 100% of the amount paid for the print excluding the delivery cost. The print must be returned to us within 7 days from the date of delivery to you. You are strongly advised to return the goods using a trackable service as without receipt of the goods in their original condition by us, there will be no refund.
Right of Withdrawal EC Distance Selling Directive 2014
All goods offered for sale including prints, posters, frames, canvas, and hard backed prints are printed and made on demand to your personalised specification. As such, they are excluded from the EC Distance Selling Directive concerning the Right to Withdraw from the contract of sale .
Greeting cards are stocked items and if within 14 days from receipt, you change your mind and wish to return the card(s) you may do so by sending me an email at that time stating the reason why you wish to cancel the order and return the card(s) back to us at your own expense of posting. The payment you made for the goods excluding the delivery cost, will be refunded by the same method with which you paid for the greeting cards.
…About the post and packing
How are the prints packaged?
All prints and framed or hard backed items are packaged in sturdy cardboard – either in high quality postal tubes or boxes, with the prints suitably protected with barrier paper inside.
Are the packages tracked?
Yes, the packages are tracked and you will be emailed the tracking code when your print is on its way. You will be required to sign for the package, which is usually sent by Royal Mail, and you will be notified of which service is being used in our acknowledgement email to you.
How long does delivery take?
The order is usually printed within 4 days and is only dispatched once fully dried. If the print is to be framed or mounted, this usually takes an additional 2-3 days . In the UK, we use a 24 hour delivery service. Overseas delivery takes longer usually dependent upon the location, typically 5-7 working days to Europe of North America. If you prefer a quicker overseas service, then please email firstname.lastname@example.org
. If for any reason these production times are to be exceeded, you will be informed at that time.
What are the delivery charges?
These vary according to the product being sent and will show on your shopping cart at check out. As a guide, UK delivery for a 60 x 40cm print by Royal Mail Special delivery is £9.95; a 75 x 50cm print under acrylic glass would be £15.95 with a 1200mm wide framed print being £24.95.
What do I do if the package is damaged when it arrives?
If the package arrives damaged, write this on the deliverers’ paperwork when you are asked to sign for it. If it is obvious that the goods inside are damaged, then please refuse to accept the package although a slightly damaged package may not actually result in damaged goods inside. If you have time, please take a quick digital photo of the damage before opening the package. Once opened, please examine the print and if it has been damaged, please again photograph the damage and email email@example.com
with the images. We will then arrange with you to return the goods and a replacement sent or payment for the goods refunded.
Will you take a picture of our boat?
Yes by all means. You may commission me to photograph your boat and I will arrange with you the type of picture you would like and we will then arrange when and where to take it. These photo shoots may be as short as a couple of hours, or longer depending on your criteria. Email Ian Badley at info@PhotoSailing.co.uk for more details.
If you are attending an event or regatta such as Cowes Week and are likely to want a photograph, please, please let me know before hand with your boat name, sail number, type, class, hull and sail colour. I will then look out for you if I am covering the event and take some pictures. All too often I get asked after the event and with up to 1600 competitors taking part sometimes, I don’t take pictures of all the yachts. So do please get in touch.
Will you cover our sailing event as the official photographer?

outlining the dates of your event and the coverage you are planning and I will respond as soon as possible.
Can I copy one of your images to print myself direct from your website?

and I will email back with a short form for you to personalise the voucher with a brief message. I can either email you the voucher for you to print out if time is short, or send you a glossy voucher if you prefer, (a £3.50 package and posting charge will apply for the glossy voucher).
Gift vouchers are available for any amount in multiples of £5 (with a minimum order of £20) and are valid for 12 months from date of purchase.

Who takes the pictures?
Me, Ian Badley. I am a professional photographer, meaning I earn my living from photography.
What equipment do you use?
I have used Olympus, Canon and Nikon in my photography, but for the majority of the time during my professional career, and for the past 12 or so years, I have used Nikon equipment interspersed by a couple of Canon years. Cameras are only the tools of the trade however. Nikon currently fits my requirements.
My kit includes:
- The full frame 36 megapixel D800e which is my main camera;
- A cropped sensor 24mp D7100 for long range;
- My leviathan brick, the D2XS which has been submerged a few times now and still provides wide angle and back up.
Lenses, (all Nikkor) include:
- 16-35mm, 24mm prime; 24-70mm; 35mm prime; 50mm prime; 70-200mm; 135mm prime; 300mm prime.
- My Tripod is Giottos with a Manfrotto 410 geared head
- I use Lee Filters including a range of neutral density, graduated plus a B&W polariser.
- Adobe Lightroom is used as my main working software database for cataloguing, RAW processing and is my all round photographic office.
